My name is Jennifer O’Callaghan-Strachan, and I am the owner of My Mahj.

Many friends and family members thought I was crazy when My Mahj began to expand. I have built a successful career in senior living, community relations, and marketing, and those who know me best would probably describe me as a workaholic. I am also a wife, a mother of four adult children, and a proud pet parent to three fur babies.

​

For more than 30 years, I have worked in community relations and marketing across government, tourism, hospitality, economic development, and senior living. I currently work with Sienna Living in a provincial regional partner role. Previously, I spent many years as a consultant specializing in senior housing development, from breaking ground to welcoming residents.

I also volunteer as President of the Board of Directors for the Central Okanagan Hospice Association and serve as a women’s faith leader at Trinity Church. My faith is deeply meaningful to me, and I feel blessed to follow the path that has shaped my life.

Why My Mahj? Whether through my career or volunteer work, I have always been passionate about creating spaces where people can connect and feel included. We live in a world where digital communication often takes precedence, while in-person connection can be challenging - or, as some might say, “cliquey.” Having to personally experienced exclusion in different situations, I want to create an environment that offers genuine belonging and an authentic sense of connection.

I believe the world could use more kindness. When we show kindness, we experience it in return, creating a positive energy around us. The more people see and feel kindness, the more likely they are to share it with others and then it builds synergy in our homes, community and more. It really can be that simple.
